Arlington Teacher to be Honored as New HERO

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Kathryn Powers, Special Ed Math teacher at Bailey Junior High in the Arlington ISD, has been named “The Most Outstanding First Year Teacher” this year in all of North Texas.  The Bayard H. Friedman HERO Award was presented to her at the Women’s Expo 2010 in the Dallas Market Hall on Saturday, August 28.

CONGRATULATIONS, Kathryn!  We are proud of you - all your accomplishments and helping children love to learn with such skill and devotion!!

The mystery DRAMA HERO WINNER for 2010 was announced at Casa Manana’s Betty Buckley Awards Night on Thursday, May 20.  Kristy Minor, who heads up Mansfield High School’s Theatre Department, was presented the Bayard H. Friedman HERO Award for being the most outstanding Drama Teacher in North Texas!  As part of the ceremony, Chesapeake Energy presented Kristy an honorarium in appreciation for all she does for her community!

ARLINGTON August 24 BACK-TO-SCHOOL RALLY

 August 24, 2010 - Arlington residents and friends celebrated the 2010-2011 School Year with a concert of music and prayer in unity for all public, private and church school students and HERO school employees.  Jamar Jones and Shawna Morgan, with The Potter’s House, arranged for most of the dynamic music, and Miss Arlington – Chrisie Kibler – sang “How Great Thou Art!”  Over 40 pastors and other spiritual leaders from many denominations in the area came and prayed for specific requests from the schools!

Can you imagine over 30,000 pencils?  Over $40,000 worth of school supplies were collected and given directly to the Arlington ISD to be distributed to principals for children as incentives and awards.

WE THANK ALL OUR FRIENDS – OLD AND NEW – WHO SUPPORTED THIS VERY SUCCESSFUL EFFORT!  And God blessed Arlington!!!!!!!!!!

This Saturday night, May 8, Mr. Stacey Dunn will become our newest recipient of the prestigious HERO Award.  The honors ceremony, conducted in part by Chesapeake Energy, will take place at the 8 p.m. performance of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Bass Hall.  Mr. Dunn has proven his expertise and inspired his school and community for ten years.  Congratulations, Stacy!!

PERMIAN BASIN 1ST HERO AWARD

We are proud to announce the inaugural presentation of the new Marcia McEntyre Zoffuto HERO Award Saturday night, May 8.  This prestigious award goes to the most outstanding band teacher in the Permian Basin and is given in collaboration with our Score A Goal In The Classroom School Incentive Program.  (See attached). Success Rally a Sensation at Azle Junior High School

April 23, 2010, a Success Rally for the 7th and 8th graderswas hosted by Azle Junior HighYvonne Rubenstein, featured speaker, has been a successful retail executive for 30 years and electrified the student audience by sharing the importance of commitment to one’s education, and particularly taking steps to finish well on the upcoming TAKS test.  Stacy Summerhill, recently named as a new Bayard H. Friedman HERO, is the excellent, pro-active principal there.

FWISD School Wins National Award

A new Reading Festival was launched at TCC’s Arlington Southeast Campus Library on Saturday, March 21.! 

 

Everyone attending received an extraordinatry greetin, and all who attended had a ball, including many teachers and area mentors.

Arlington’s Ashworth, Crouch and South Davis Elementaries’ 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders came and made a treasured memory of “opening their books, and opening and enriching their minds!’

The new Reading Festival was a huge success – the children were inspired to love reading, experience new horizons, and aim to attend college!  We salute all the wonderful, loving School Employees and volunteers who shared their time, talents and friendship with these eager young people!!

H-E-B ISD MUSIC TEACHER, Michael Dean,  received the Bayard H. Friedman HERO AWARD.  Music Teacher MICHAEL DEAN, presented by Chesapeake Energy at The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performance at Bass Hall on Saturday, April 17, 2010, 8 p.m.  Mr. Dean has been named the most outstanding Voice and Choral Teacher in North Texas of the year!!
